So, what’s some
of the rules and regulations of the school? |
Jam
: |
Nothing
much. Just normal like any other boarding schools like......guys and
girls were not allowed in each other’s dorms, curfew’s at 11 p.m.,
outings possible only during the weekends......er, we had morning
assemblies, where we sing the national anthem at 6.30 in the morning,
and preparation classes (prep.) which was compulsory for us to attend.
Even in prep., we can’t study with the
girls......too
many couples last time |
| |
Strict
rules! Does that make you miss your teenage social life, you know
like......hanging out in malls and stuff? |
| |
Jam
: |
Nah, our
schedules were full everyday, filled with training, classes and
whatever we had to do. During the weekends, we used to hang out at
Casper’s house. We watched VCDs and relaxed there. |
| |
| |
So, your
SPM results......what was your reaction when you got it? |
Jam
: |
Not
satisfied!!! |
| |
Why? I think it’s
really good! |
| |
Jam
: |
I
targeted
6As. An A in Sport Science and Islam Education. I didn’t expect an A
in History. That was a surprise for me. |
| |
Did you lay off
squash during your Form 5, maybe to spend more time on books? |
| |
Jam
: |
No, I
had to train for the World Junior Championship last year. I was the
third player of the team. And because the championship was a week
after SPM, I had to train when I sat for the exams as well! |
My
goodness! That must have been tough! How did you manage both training
and studies at the same time?! |
| |
Jam
: |
Well, I
don’t know. I didn’t study much. Really! Just did homework, self-study
and attend the prep. classes. Although there were no teachers in prep,
it did help me a bit. |
| |
How did
you guys do at the World’s anyway? |
| |
Jam
: |
Umm......the team finished 9th. |
| |
Well done! So,
done with SPM, what’s next? |
| |
Jam
: |
Matriculation. The classes are conducted in the Majlis Sukan Negara
(MSN) complex. It starts in May. Yah, I’m confirmed of doing that. |
| |
Right......what
happens to your squash then? |
| |
Jam
: |
I’ll
still play and train, of course. I’ll be doing both. The
pre-university course is flexible, so it won’t be a problem if I have
to miss classes to travel. |
What’s your
ambition? |
Jam
I want
to sell burgers. |
| |
What?! |
Jam
Yah,
those stalls beside the streets. |
| |
